old p3 system BX mobo - lost it's boot sector in win2k (drive was only 8 years old!) making awful clunky sounds - then cpu fan stops working - can't get HD to be recognized anywhere because it is old FAT16 - finally find a win98 hd, throw it in the bx system, and manage to get her WP docs off the old drive, then, just for yucks, hook up the old drive (which wouldn't boot before) - now up jumps a winme partition i'd forgotten about and it starts right up - had to shut it down b/c the cpu was getting too hot
ah, the old days when motherboards were motherboards - BX still my favorite chipset - nforce no. 2

Ah yes, the immortal bx mobo's. So many of us did our first overclocking with one. And who could forget the bh6/300a combo. I still have a combo like that and it still works.
Think I prefer the nforce2 more though. More options. But will they last as long.

the nice thing about the ol' bx was that every ms os recognized the chipset and installed the drivers - none of this voodoo you have to do now trying to figure out if you want to use xp drivers or proprietary ones
now all i have to do is dig up something to replace the golden orb on the p3 600 -
