Did anyone see the 2003 Dodge Viper?

You would think... but from what I heard Dodge's v10 isn't all its cracked up to be. They just made the cylinders smaller in size and (i'm not an expert here so please excuse me if I explain this wrong) made the walls thinner in between the cylinders-or something like that, so that the engine wears quicker and can't really be fixed if one of those walls wears away too much.There are some Jap cars with V4's that can pump out what a decent V6 can do. The way I look at it is the Dodge has more cylinders, therefore, it doesn't have to work as hard as the V8 in the 'Vette. Therefore, it shouldn't break down as often and wouldn't need as much maintainance. So the bigger engine doesn't have to work as hard as the smaller engine for the same performance. Just my thoughts, though they may be entirely wrong?

But the v10 is pumping out 125 more hp than the v8, so just because it's bigger, doesnt mean its not working hard. How long an engine will last general deals on how hard you really drive it. I'd rather be in the position to fix a vette than a viper! ouch!. Plus you can stick another 3,000 on a 6-9psi supercharger and absolutly toast that viper. The suspension already registers a 1.0g (never seen a car do that). So you are talking around 51k for a viper eating vette...compaired to 75+k. Additonally the insurance on the vette is going to be lower.
I've got the same engine stock engine as Rezillo in my bronco... it's got 130,000 miles on it before the rebuild and another 6,000 after. now that says something for that engine
Now the viper is actually 2 seperate engine blocks, a v6 and a v4... not this amazing v10 you hear about. For some reason that just sounds like cheap engineering, and more things that can go wrong.

The only problem with a Viper is not many people will want to actually race you. RiceBoys won't even try as they know they have no chance. I would much rather have a completely stock looking 5.0 Mustang pushing out better 1/4 times than the Viper. That way you can hella surprise people at the stoplight. Hotshots in Vipers especially. Unless they hear the whine of the blower. Heh heh.

the v-10 in the viper is the same motor that thy put in the v-10 dodge ram and the first v-10 dodge rams have had there fair share of problems -and in the trucks you have a little extra work room but you need a step stool to get in there ?kinda sucks do that a build v-6 or v-8 with proper add ons and you can whopp them v-10s at low end and at high end ")

and was a stiff ride to ! any one ever ride in a older mustang -it was a hard ride and the back seat had a big hump in the middle to and on the fast backs the rear window had lots of blind spots and boy did i love that car a 67 mustang 2+2 with a 289 cobra jet and 3 speed automatic trans and air . blue with a interior black vinal interior and 5 gallons of bondo and 2 sheets of metal in the rear quarters and a 8 track tape deck under the dash

the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me.

This 302 (5.0L) V8 motor (not even a 351!) in a '93 Cobra puts out about 700hp to the wheels. Now that is way sweeter than a V10 Viper! Check the specs out yourself: http://www.93cobra.com/Modifications.html

It's new engine isn't as sexy looking as those posted here BUT at 385HP out of the box (GT-40 351cid engine), plus much more, I can deal with it's basic '60s look and carberator too

Tremec TKO tranny w/proper bellhousing.
Hayes clutch and pressure plate.
SVO aluminum High-Performance driveshaft.
MSD billet distibutor, set at 12 degrees baseline for 28 degree max advance at 3500 rpm
MSD 6AL sparkbox, w/6000 rpm chip
140 MPH speedometer.
Monster Tach with shift light on column.
Mechanical temp and oil pressure gauges located in radio opening.
HPM megabite JR lower arms on rearend w/polyurethane bushings.
SVO motorsport upper arms.
I'll be my new summer time "toy" and something new to work on besides PC stuff in my spare time. Naturally the wife's not exactly thrilled but...................wouldn't be the first time for that either

Nice looking car there Horace. Do you know what kind of body kit it has on it? It makes that older 79-86 body style look pretty sweet. Those 16" Pony rims off a 91-93 really make it look good too. Great motor too. Looks like you'll have an pretty awesome automobile that should be able to take just about anything you see on the road! Enjoy it and make sure you always eat your rice BURNED! It just tastes so much better!
