I got some cash, and i feel bad but i want to get a CPU that goes over 1ghz!! This CPU will run 1.00GHZ in windows 2000 perectly fine!! no problems at all, this is with cheap cooling. Now if you have a really nice cooler i;m sure you can do 1ghz stable in everything. does this at 1.83 voltage (reported in bios, 1.80 for other mobos.) So its not too bad. I know for sure 954 is easy for it. Not all suystems are the same though, everyone knows this... Can anyone help me out? i wouold trade the cpu and 70 bucks... Pretty soon i feel i;m going to do what yoshi is doing, liek when i start college, so i want to mess aroudn while i;m in high school still. Thank a bunch...

just get a board you can overclock on, and unlock your chip w/ a pencil

I see from your clock speed, you are just upping the FSB..

106x9=954

just unlock your chip and change the multiplier..

That will save you $70

Just trying to help..

but how will unlocking it make it overclock anymore? I know its not heat i have a Fop 32-1 which is crappy but it wors ok. When its at 1gig in games i get messed up textures and all that good stuff, and it locks up. But in windows its A OK. Unlocking it will make it betta? please explain i will glady like to save money ;)

you have to up the voltage to get it to run stable at higher clock speeds

you unlock it by connecting the L1 bridges..

some use pencils, some use locite rear defroster repair pens..

I've never done it, I am using a cheapy biostar board, I'm waiting for the KT133A to come out.

Yes DEFINETLY unlock your cpu and use multiplier adjustment and a voltage increase. The KT7 supports up to 1.85 am I right? Try it there or 1.825. Also for unlocking your cpu check out Anands and Toms Both have articles on connecting your l1 bridges.

I'd trade you my slot a 900 that does 1008 but I think you said you have socket a mobo. I dont' get why you're sweating the one gig thing tho. I like my socket a 800 @ 950 more than a P3 700 I had that did over a gig !! If you want the slot a 900/1008 ( runs 9x 112...sweet!), LMK. I could use the 70 bux :) .
