Call of Duty

I'm liking it. WAY better controls than MOHAA (MOHAA's control use to piss me off) and Internet multiplayer performance is MUCH better than MOHAA (although some things are still managed server-side and suffer lag for it - like the permanent machine gun positions).

Some dang nice multiplayer maps. This will keep me distracted for a little while :)

Yeah, I love the multiplayer so far. Team DM is a blast.

Team DM gets dull after a while. Behind Enemy Lines is a blast though.

Anyone else notice something: the weapon sound effects are rather unimpressive. They also don't sound very authentic after MOHAA and DoD.

how many servers are usually online? According to the in-game browser, usually around 1000+

do you have to use gamespy? Nope...it has an in-game browser...GS is not required.

it requires a serial number. don't be lame and warez it. and it works through ASE which is 100x easier to use than the in game browser.

If you like DoD and you sorta liked MOHAA except that MOHAA's net engine sucked, then you may like COD.

The MP maps are much bigger and detailed. There's one map that takes place in a huge area encompasing a couple of city blocks with 3 or 4 bombed out 4 - 5 story apartment buildings. Takes place in winter. VERY cool map. Lots of sniper nests but the sniper rifle doesn't dominate the game, and the muzzle flash does give it away which helps play balance (like real snipers you should shoot then relocate).

The BEST MP game IMO is "Behind Enemy Lines". There are 2 teams but one team is 25% the size of the other team (it's trapped behind enemy lines). You will respawn as a member of the larger team until you kill a member of the smaller team, then you immediately take his place and he gets bumped back to the larger team. Sounds strange, yeah, but it's fun. It's easy to get on the smaller team but hard to stay on it. Smaller team tends to hide while the other team tries to flush them out.

The really fun map to play that on is a German POW camp. Allies are the smaller outnumbered team of course. Fun map.

My only complaint is that after DoD the weapons in COD just don't sound as good or as authentic to me. The Thompson sounds rather flat.
