Is this a good price?

Post by osadeghi »

Im trying to configure my pricing for a new system i'm going to start selling...and I'd like your input!

The computer consists of these components:

Monitor - 17" AOPEN LCD 450:1

Case - ENERMAX 350W SILVER DELUXE NEON CASE

HDD - SEAGATE 160GB SATA 7200.7 RPM

Memory - 1GB KINGSTON HYPER X PC3200

Motherboard - MSI 865PE

CPU - INTEL 3.0GHZ 800MHZ FSB

Video - NVIDIA GEFORCE 5950 ULTRA 256MB DDR 8X

Sound - CREATIVE LABS SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY 2 PLATINUM ZS

OS - MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL

Optical Drive - 4X DVD+/-RW

2nd Optical Drive - DVD ROM

Additional Storage - FLOPPY 1.44"

So this is what the system consists of and the price is going to be around $2700.....

What do you all think is that a good price? Should there be different hardware inside the box?

Any suggestion?

Thx and hope to get good feedback!

ok, I went to Newegg and got ~ 2050 as a cost based on the general description of what you listed.

No keyboard/mouse/mousepad/speakers?

Also I really think that the soundblaster Audigy 2zs platinum is overkill for even most hardware enthusiasts. And at $210, you might want to consider just offer perhaps a SB Audigy 2 or an M-Audio revolution as the High end card and at $100 its not nearly as expensive.

Also please consider a Radeon 9800Pro/XT instead of the NVidia 5950. There's been so much negative press about the NVidia offering (even though the latest drivers seem to make it perform as well as the XT) that you'd be better off offering the ATI card.

As for the price, you have to consider how many people are going to plunk $2700 on a site thats not Dell. And a 25% markup is very generous (maybe too generous?) for yourself.
