Nickelback - the long road

Post by Absolut Talent »

a great follow up from their previous SilverSide up album

I especially love the #7 track "Figured you out"

"I like your pants around your feet
I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favourite damn disease

And I love the places that we go
And I love the people that you know
And I love the way you can't say no
Too many long lines in a row
I love the powder on your nose

Ooooh
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out

I like the freckles on your chest
And I like the way you like me best
And I like the way you're not impressed,
While you put me to the test
I like the wine stains on your dress

And I love the way you pass the check
And I love the good times that you wreck
And I love your lack of self respect
While you're passed out on the deck
I love my hands around your neck

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out

I love your pants around your feet
And I love the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favourite damn disease

And I hate the places that we go
And I hate the people that you know
And I hate the way you can't say no
Too many long lines in a row
I hate the powder on your nose

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out"

I dislike Nickelback with an extreme passion. They are the epitomy of today's "hard" band - a band that sounds like everybody else and is composed entirely of pansy boys who pump out meaningless music. Sorry for ranting, but thats how I really feel about them.

to each their own.

Personally, i feel that rock died out in the early 90s, just after nirvana and pearl jam appeared. But I disagree with you on the meaningless music remark. Take for instance their song "Too bad", you telling me that song has no meaning? Especially since it was written because of what happened in the singers life when he was younger.....

i think all the great music stopped comming out just shortly after pearl jam appeared and now yes everyone does sound the same. But its still good music nonetheless

Gotta agree, as a musician I too dislike nickelback

Nickelback to rock musicians is what britney spears is to whitney houston
or what pop/blues is to SRV

I have an idea. Let's all dress up in basketball jerseys and sport a million dollars worth of gold chains and necklaces. Then, let's take a ride in a million dollar Cadillac with a hundred hot women, each sporting a million dollars worth of gold chains and necklaces, while we sing about poverty in the inner city, and how we've all had such a hard life. Don't worry, we won't require any instruments. I have a drum machine. I'll come up with a line of lyrical genius like, "It's gettin' hot in here, so take off all your clothes...", and we'll dance to it in the back of the Cadillac. We'll entice all of the bandwagon jumpers in the world to throw money at us.

I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that music as an art has gone straight down the toilet. It doesn't require much talent to dance to a drum machine and sing lyrics that someone else wrote, then pocket your paycheque at the end of the day and fade as fast as you arrived on scene. It's comforting to know that bands like Nickelback, who actually play instruments and write their own music, still exist.

hehe... couldn't agree more with him myself. I have a lot more respect for those artists who actual write and compose their own music even if it isn't something i care for. At least they can say 100% it is their music. I love how a lot of the rap and r&b all use the same dumbass for their beats... damn and i can't even think of the fatasses name right now. lol but the actual music all sounds the same with different words and singers. Its rather pathetic.
