depends on the hard drive configuration, but that should work fine

the bios needs to come up, you mean it goes to where you configure it?

The main thing I need to now is.. Well my freind said I needed to.. Its reconizing both the HDD and the CD-Drive the HDD is the Primary Master.. aND THE CD-Drive is the secondary slave... What does the CD-Drive need to be? my freind said it needed to be the secondary master.. I know you can do this in bios but I couldnt figure out how to set it from secondary slave to secondary master..Also for some reason it cant detect my floppy drive..

That setup will work. Go into the bios and set the CD as the first boot device, HDD0 as the second boot device. Disable floppy seek in the bios. Put the WindowsXP CD in the CD drive and reboot the comp. Wait for it to say "Hit any key to boot from CD". (usually in the lower left of the monitor screen) If it gives no notice of booting from the CD, then you might not have a bootable WinXP CD.

you need to change the jumper on the CD-Rom if you want to change it to Master

if it's a backup copy of WinXP then you may have the same prob I have with MY back up..
it DOES NOT BOOT

I have to install Win98Se first.. THEN upgrade...ugh
I say just borrow the unopened full version from the older guy who doesn't mess with computers :)
that'd be the easiest and safest thing to do

I got the CD-Drive to be reconized as the secondary master, which is what I wanted to start with.. But still I get the Disc boot failure insert system disc and press enter... Do you think its a problem with the win xp disc? cuz i'm gonna get another (real one) soon.....

Swapping the CD-Rom you're using in the comp you're on now into your rig and seeing if it works that way. Because if it works in that CD-Rom it should work in any of them.. eGo

Take the actual CD-ROM Drive out of the computer you are on now and put it in your NEW computer and try installing windows that way..
