Bad or something.. Or it may not be a bootable CD.. This is an Original? Or is it a backup?

Must be bad..

Try cleaning it and booting again. Otherwise you'll need to get a different OS install CD Windows 98 and higher should be self booting.. eGo

After hitting F1 on the main Bios screen.. The screen turns black and then says Sata Raid, Press (Ctrl+S) or F4 to open Sata Menu.. I do have a Sata Raid Silicon Image floppy disk... I just dont understand this or what to do...

you don't need the RAID disc untill you are installing XP

if the Bios is set for CD as the boot disc then the XP Setup should start.

but, as it is a back-up copy who knows.

Go pick up a real copy and use that

Are you..

Hitting anything after you hit the power button? It sounds like you may have something enabled in the bios that shouldn't be. What settings have you tinkered with so far? eGo

Pick up a real copy WHERE??? I just spent all that money on the computer I dont have the money to spend on Win XP that I might use twice.. I dont understand this.. Ok I turn it on it brings up main screen it says Pheonix Bios has cpu temp all that.. At bottom left says hit F1 to Continue or Del for Bios menu.. I put in disc on that page right? I have tryed it.. I doesnt do anything.. Should I hit F1 to continue after inserting disc?? when I do it then says the stuff about Sata Raid, I hit nothing.. then it loads some stuff and and say Boot disc failure Insert system disc

The CD is hosed..

Post by eGoCeNTRoNiX »

Your stuck.. You can leave the CD in the drive, you don't have to take it out and put it back in. But if it's saying it cannot read the CD you're SOL.. You'll need to get a Real/Good Copy of it if you want it to work. Buying the OS should always be a part of your anticipated system build btw.. ;) Do you have a copy of 98SE you can use in the mean time until you can afford to buy XPro? GL eGo

It sounds to me that you have the RAID as the boot first disc, and put the CD in, then power on.

Ok it gives a choice in bios menu for either Raid then SCSI or SCSI then Raid? Should that be changed??

I can get a real copy of it from a freind.. Buying an O/S is a waste of money..

keep going through the options, there is one for CD-Rom ( unless maybe you don't have it installed properly )

no it isn't. if you feel that way you should use a free OS, not one that cost $

I dont feel likes it a waste of money... I know its very usefull to have a real copy laying around but I dont see the sense in me buying it when I can get it from some of my freinds.. I acutally know one guy who has a new windows xp never opened b4 and will let me borrow it anytime he is just a older guy who doesnt mess with comps so wouldnt matter if I used it..... Also dopey I did put CD-Rom as first boot device HDD as 2nd and Floppy as 3rd

then save the changes, exit the bios, put the CD in, power off the system. Then power it on.

do you have more then one CD-Rom?

if so, switch what drive you are putting the CD in, that matters
