Speaker troubles

Post by TheBattousai »

I have a set of Klipsch 4.1 and for some reason, lately I've been hearing static from the speakers when I'm playing music, games, etc. Also, whenever change the volume on satellite, I hear static. Unfortunately, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to speakers and sound. Could the position of the speakers cause interference with each other? Any advise would be appreciated.

More likely the amp in the subwoofer ... try to unplug yer Klipsch for a while and then try again. That usually helps with my Klipsch 4.1 setup.

If it's a mechanical volume control (knob) and it crackles when you turn it, the potentiometer is dirty.

Turn it up and down briskly several times and that should clean it for a while.

Unfortunately it will just get bad again. The pot needs to be replaced but it's not worth it. The turn and clean trick should hold you for a year or more.

NEVER use WD40. Use contact cleaner. They sell it at electronics stores.

However any decent volume control pot will be the sealed type, which means you won't be able to spray into it.

Clean the connectors going to the speakers with some rubbing alchohol.
That should help with some of the static.
