Hi guys, i want to start this post off by thanking each and every one of you whom I've traded with over the years. You've truly made online trading a pleasure that I will never forget! Over the last few months, I've realized I've become addicted to my habit-- upgrading and tricking out my computer in every way possible. I'm a freshman in college, and I don't wish to spend all my time on the computer anymore; I want to get out of my dorm room and have a life! Unfortunately, I'm one of those all or nothing type guys, so to get rid of all temptation, I need to get rid of the source -- my desktop computer obviously. I'd like to trade it for a laptop of medium power and cash (I'm a college student remember? :) ) I'd REALLY like to trade the whole thing and not have to part it out since I've decided not to spend too much time with the computer or trading anymore. However, if it is necesarry, I will part the whole thing out. I'll also list all the extra cooling stuff I have that I will no longer be needing, stuff I've spent well over $250 for. If you have a laptop and you're willing to trade, I'm willing to work with you if you want only certain things in the computer, or if you want extra cooling stuff with it. Without further ado, here is my creation!

AMD Duron 600mhz @ 1000mhz 1.85v with Alpha PAL6035
PC Power and Cooling 425 Watt Power Supply with 5 year warrenty
Abit KT7
256MB CAS2 PC133 KTI Kingmax Tiny BGA Ram (Highly overclockable)
18GB IBM 4th Gen 10K RPM SCSI, 160MB/s Max (4.5 years left on the warrenty)
(2) IBM 75GXP 7200RPM 45GB Hard Drives in Raid 0 (90GB total)
2GB IBM 7200RPM SCSI, 20MB/s Max, I THINK
32MB OEM Creative Labs Geforce 2 GTS
Tekram PCI U2W SCSI Card, 80MB/s Max (Brand New)
IWILL PCI UW SCSI Card, 40MB/s Max
Promise FastTrak66 PCI RAID Card
HP 9210i 8X SCSI CDRW Drive
Pioneer Slot Load 6x SCSI DVD-ROM Drive (Only SCSI model not region locked)
SB Live! Value (Less than a month old)
3Com 10/100 PCI NIC 3C905B-TX
Floppy Drive
Removeable Hard Drive Bay

As I stated above, I'm looking to trade this system for a mid-range P3 laptop with some cash. And I'm open to a deal where you can leave some of the more expensive components out, for example: I just bought the 18GB 10k RPM drive and controller card for $400 and the power supply is the best so it cost $200.

In a few minutes I will have the Overclocking equipment up in the thread as well. You guys have no idea how sad I am to leave the tweaking scene, but it's for my own good. I guess I just need to keep a stiff upper lip and my chin up, and I'll pull through :-/

What, you're getting out of the tweaking business? No way!....

Betcha you'll be coming back sooner or later askin' for more ;) Like Socket, he switched and switched back, hehe

BTW, is that system only for trade and sell as a whole or can you out a few miscellaneous items? (ie - SCSI stuff) :)

We'll miss you......

thanks plucky, i very well might be back another semester, but i need to buckle down on my school work and also have more of a life -- last semester i spent TOO much time tweaking my water-cooling/peltier setup AND my GPA was below the GPA required by my full scholarship-- im on probation now, like academic review for a 3.43. can u believe i have to maintain a 3.5?! AH!

anyways, i'd preffer to do a trade for cash and a laptop, but i could sell the whole kit and kaboodle as well. i know pricechecks are frowned upon, but it breaks my heart to put a mortal price on this thing which i have poured so much time and energy into! if you wouldn't mind, what do u think it's worth plucky? don't worry blade, ill post up a price soon, im not trying to pull any ebay shiz on u guys!

and yes, i was thinking that a person who is interested in the whole system might balk at paying a whole bunch more for the scsi stuff, so i'm prepared to break it up into smaller packages if necesarry. thanks for the reply!

PSU

Post by y0shi »

Thanks Alex, I'm still hoping to sell it all at once, or at least in a couple large packages (ex. Main Computer, SCSI stuff, Cooling stuff), but I'm keeping a running tally of what everyone wants just in case i can get enough interest to sell every piece. in this case, whoever buys the most items at once gets dibs on what they want. i know this isnt how it is usually done, but im looking to leave the scene with shipping as few packages as possible. thanks for understanding! heres what has been spoken for thus far with your recent interest in the PSU:

Best of luck young man. You are only young once and it would be a shame to waste the best years of your life on the internet. You always can wait to be an old fart like me to do that :)

Trades Accepted

Post by y0shi »

i think i have landed myself a nice laptop (ill post a link to the auction once its closed, i dont want to risk losing it with only one hour left lol!) but it needs a few upgrades. it only comes with a 7gb hd, quite a step down from 110+ gb. also, it only comes with 64mb ram, but its upgradable with a second slot (i think they said it was 1.6" or something). i know ram is pretty cheap now, and just looking at pricewatch, it seems that 18gb is about all i can expect to have without paying a fortune. if any of you guys have those lappy parts or any other accessories for an HP N5170, lmk and we can work a trade. also, i would put my 2.5" 7gb hard drive up in a trade as well. o yeah, and if u have an 8x usb cd burner id be interested too!

i know it seems like im doing it again-- upgrading-- but im just making the new computer into something more acceptable as a desktop replacement. thanks for listening :)
