What's causing my water to turn a different color

Post by Ripsnort »

I remember seeing something on this but could not find it.
Here is the problem: The cooling water seams to change color from my green tint UV to a pinkish orange after running for about 3 days.

What I’m using is Distilled water and FrozenCPU Green UV dye.
The hose and blocks are from Danger den Clearflex 60 hose.

What can I do to prevent this?
Any help would be appreciated.

have you tried running the water without the reactive UV?

it could just be a chemical reaction with the UV and the radiator or blocks

what is your system composed of? just a pump, processor block and radiator? or do you also have a NB block and a video card block? do you also have a resevior?

were you also using any other water additives? (ie like water wetter)
Gone for good. But never say never

No I’m just using the water and UV additive.
There is also a radiator, GPU block and the kool lance hard drive block.
I have been running this without the computer on, so there’s very little heat.
(I was checking for leaks when I notice this)
I do have some water wetter, but I would prefer not to use it, due to that it would change the color of the water to a red.

I really want to try to keep it a greenish color, as it would look much better for the mod.
Will radiator fluid accept the UV additive? And is there any that are of a greenish color?

Thanks.

Is your system all Aluminum or all Copper ?
Do you have a mixture of the two ?

Well the blocks are copper, but now as I think about it the Kool lance HD cooler is aluminum.
