gawd. I'm borrowing a friend's 8500 LE right now and he needs it back by Tuesday!

Must get this 9600 replaced! Unfortunately because it is DOA, I have another week of me not being able to use my puter.

Oh hey guys, I figured out why it doesnt work!

8RDA+ only supports 1.5v cards!!!!

Radeon 9600 Pro is .8v!

Any type of fix?

Jumpers?

Post by eGoCeNTRoNiX »

Is there a jumper on the card to switch that? What about a setting in the bios to adjust the AGP voltage? Just thoughts.. eGo

AGP voltage is set at 1.5v default. Can set it higher, but there's no point. It doesn't go any lower either.

I tried disabling 8x support, and that didnt work!

I'm stumped!

spencers, you owe nexus an apology for that. You were told by me and others about nexus and to just wait. It was a holiday weekend, remember.

Looks like it's a bad card. And yes the heat has been taken care of.

Gonna try to work on getting an RMA from ATI directly tomorrow.

And for those who dont know why I jumped the gun:
I've been having a rough month. Yes, month. I went to Quakecon, hooked up my pc, and found out my motherboard was dead. Didnt get to use my PC the whole damn time. Fun? No.
Week later I ordered a new motherboard. Waited a few days for it to get to me. After testing the new motherboard, I sold my Ti4200 and shipped it the same day. So then I was video card-less. Later in the week, I found greg's thread and I bought the video card off him. Good price, too. At that time, I contacted a friend, who let me borrow his 8500 LE so I could reformat my drive and get ready for the 9600. Waited the rest of the week for it. Came in saturday and it was DOA. Now today I'm having to RMA it, AND give my friend's card back to him because his 9500 fried.
I will probably have to wait another week for the replacement to be sent. And this week is the biggest part of my video job for class. I'm working on streaming the biggest rivalry in the nation (Texas High vs Arkansas High School) media for my media class, and I don't think its going to happen because of my computer being down.

So if you don't think I was too pissed to even think, then you're wrong.
