hmm, that's a toughy. Perhaps try to update the bios. Uninstall, then reinstall might help.

Might a well give it a shot. the firm ware. I assume you are using NOT nero 6 cause it is still in its infancy.

It's not uncommon that a newer drive won't work with older software. CDRW drives change all the time. Some software has a drive database file you can download that enables it to work with newer drives.

Liteon drives usually come with a copy of Nero that works with them, but I would expect the latest Nero should work fine.

Have you had a chance to test it in another system like a W2K one?
Could it be a conflict with XP and your other software? Did you already have a burner in this system that was working before with that same software? Inquiring minds want to know ;)

I have a 52x24X52X liteon and it has never had a problem working with any software yet, but it is in a W2Kpro System. So is the 48x??x48X liteon.

If you figure this one out, post an answer please, as I just put one in the shopping cart at newegg myself :)
Not that I need the upgrade from 48x to 52x, but I was gonna give my 48x to a friend that doesn't have any burner at all, but I don't wanna scr3w myself doing it.
And I don't upgrade my software very often, so if it needs all new software updates to work I am down the tubes with it.
