One reason the national "Do Not Call" list probably won't work...

Post by FlyingPenguin »

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/pending/callscam.asp

Claim: Telemarketers are luring those who've signed up for the national "Do Not Call" list by getting them to request coupons for free products.

Status: True.
This is to all of you that signed up for the "do not call" law. This week I received a card in the mail that looked alright — It said "vote for your favorite cola — Pepsi or Coke — and receive a complementary 12 pack" It didn't look suspicious — but for some reason I kept looking at it.

THEN I FOUND IT !! At the bottom of the card there is a VERY small statement. It is SO small it is hard to read—but here is what it says— By completing this form, you agree that sponsors and co-sponsors of this offer may telephone you, even if your number is found on a do not call registry or list"

This REALLY upset me and I just wanted all my friends to be aware of this way to get around the "do not call" law !! Just think how many people will send this in and their do not call registry will be NO GOOD !! The company's name is MARKET SOLUTION. Please send this to all your friends that signed up for "do not call". I think this is just one of what we will get in the future—so READ EVERYTHING before you SIGN AND SEND !! AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT IT.!!!! PLEASE !!!

And legally you've just waived the Do Not Call list restrictions by inviting a solicitation.

I wouldnt say that. 2 phone lines in the house here and 1 is unlisted the other is listed...and the unlisted one gets maybe 1 or 2 junk calls a week compared to 5-10 a day on the listed one.

I was told it's actually illegal for them to call your cell phone or at least against some law to solicit? I would call the cell phone company and find out with them, perhaps mention to the bastards that the number they've contacted you on is a Cell and they'll stop calling.

Also a trick I've done is for the idiots that call my land line at home, I tell them it's a business, a majority of them are not allowed to legally solicit businesses, if any of them at all.
I don't feel I have to explain my art to you Warren<p>

You guys should be more careful with junk mail. We check all ours for the stupid idiots that send you credit cards or loans, since these pieces of paper can contain personal information that might be used by thieves to steal your identity. These papers we shred. Some of these are even checks that require you to sign and can be cashed. I’ve already bitched up a storm over this with several of the stupid companies that send me this crap.
