Hello!
I just purchased a MB its an A-Open AK79D-400VN,
Is this Board is compatable with pc 133 RAM?
yes I know DDR is better =)
And where at would I find a descent heatsink\fan combo for an Athalon XP 1600 1.4ghz?

Thanks for your time,
Dock

No from what I can see it only takes DDR ram so your PC 133 wont even fit into the slots. The SLK800/900's seem to be king of the hill in AMD heatsinks right now

BTW Welcome to PCA this is a great place to hang out and learn. Hope you enjoy your time here as much as I have mine

Arent DDR and pc133 the same pin for pin ? (or so i thought) Technically it would *fit* in the slots, but as to wether it would support it or not is what i think that he is getting at. I do know that there were some slightly older MB's that worked with both pc 1600/2100/2400 and pc100/133 but i couldnt find any information on wether this particular board will work with it. I am guessing not, but hey, if anyone knows let me know :P

Nope the slots for PC100/133 are different from those slots for DDR. There were some mobo's that came with support for both kinds of memory but they did so by having both kinds of slots not one slot for both kinds of memory.
