Barton 2500+ = GOOD!!
Barton 2500+ = GOOD!!
Bought two refurb 2500+ from Newegg, one oem and one retail for a grand total of $132. Just put together a new system with the retail one and an A7N8X Deluxe Rev 2 mobo and it is going like a champ right now. Just started off with setting the mult to 11x200 at default voltage and it hasn't even hiccupped. Running temps of 47C with an SLK-800A. I wonder what this can do? Its an AQXEA 0321 stepping. Forgot to write down the rest before I installed it.
The OEM one that is still sitting in the baggie is:
AXDA2500KV4D
9505238260116
AQXDA 0319MPMW
The only decent mobo I have to put it in beside the ones that already have homes is an A7V8X-X.

Yo babeee!
Not bad huh, getting a $450 cpu for under 70 bux.
How did you find them refurb? Every time I look, they are alway gone. You got lucky.
Mines a aqxda week 20. I hear the ones past week 13 are da best. I can do 11.5x190 at default voltage, anything more needs more voltage. Now at 11x200 @ 1.7. Though it might be ok back at default voltage now.
47c seems a bit high though. I rarely get past 42c.

It's like 80 in this room because of the fact that the dryer that is pretty much running all of the time (two small kids go through thons of clothes) dehumidifier and 3 other comps make this room warm in a hurry. I doubt that it is a problem with the cpu getting too hot but the fact that the room is so hot. Plus that's the reading off of the mobo and I'm not sure if it's even accurate.

Room temp does have a major effect. At 80 mine gets around 44-46 too.
Using good compound?
And you are right, the onboard monitors are rarely correct. Now run prime 95 or 3dmark, see if ya get any errors.

Alumina is good stuff and has been my preference since it came out. Or since I got some ceramique. It is slightly better, but not enough to suggest getting it till you use up all the alumina.
Also got in some shin etsu, suppose to be the best (don't they all say that). Haven't tried it yet though.
Enjoy the speed, cause we have that need!

Just got the second Barton up with an Asus A7N8X-X but this one seems to be not as good as the first. Only wants to do 2gigs at default vcore. Then again I'm using stock cooling on this one. My son lost one of the nuts from my MC-462 so until I get another I can't really mount it and I was in a hurry to get it up and folding. Should have that 1700+ tbred A up tonight after dinner.

You also might try upping the voltage to something like 1.7. Might help.
