As long as it works, it's good.

Ok, well, I hope it works... :D Well, I'll get started after I eat breakfast.

Just for reassurance, I'm pretty sure it should work. The metal leads contact each other, so why wouldn't it? The battery that was in there also wasn't dead. But, since I spent a few days getting it open I figured I should replace the battery anyway.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll let you all know if this works.

It's not a soldering job per MIL spec WS6536, but what the hay. Looks like it makes contact and it does not look like a cold soldering joint so it should work.

Well guess what? The laptop works!! :D I'm pretty damn proud of myself...and I only have 4 screws left over!!! LOL :p

I got XP installed already and I'm tweaking it a bit for my dad. Installing SP1 right now.

Something weird I've noticed though is that the number keys and F keys don't seem to work in BIOS, so I can't get into the BIOS without an external keyboard. But, I'm pretty sure they still work in XP, so, no worries! :)

I'm glad it works, I was getting worried for a bit.

AND, the whole reason I opened the laptop was to fix the CMOS battery, that is fixed as well. Job complete. :cool :

Looks like this lappy will need a new battery as well. The second I unplug the bad boy, it shuts off. Must be a glitch, then, when it shows 100% charge. I've only seen 100 and 0, and nothing in between. I'll try letting it charge tonight and see what happens. :)
