Show your Rig* are there any quiet 120mm fans?

That put out a lot of air and have a small center hub?

I have tried 4 now and all are way too loud. The first 3 sounded like a dive bomber even on a lower speed using a fan controller. I have a 120mm ys tech and it is not as bad, but instead has a very annoying hum or buzzing sound.

So I'm back to the 92mm ys tech. If all 120mm fans have such a huge center hub then they are not good for cpu cooling:

Was trying to help cool the surrounding components like the ram, nb and mosfets.

Now here's a nice messy box (airflow is clean tho.

) Just a "little" Mechatronix 80mm on the Barton.

No windows, no lights except for Abit NF7-S diagnostic LED's. Do they count?

Until they can make quieter 120mm fans with smaller center hubs, I think 92mm will be the biggest fans these current heatsinks can take. That 120mm fan is to the point where it's barely blowing any air on the heatsink itself. They should make 92mm TMD fans. That would be awesome!

Got some SouthBridge cooling, eh? I cut an old heatsink out myself, made it so it would fit on my SB nicely. I plan on pasting it on with some AA Adhesive the next time I take my motherboard out.

I have a VERY tiny bit of Arctic Alumina compound from an unnamed source (it's quite old

) that I may consider mixing with the adhesive, just in case I want to ever take the heatsink off. Is that a good idea?

I have another heatsink I could cut up. Would it be ok to put a heatsink on the mosfets? Couldn't hurt right? (Specially with non-conductive Arctic Alumina).

Hey, lets make this a "show your system" or the insides.

That 92mm fan does blow across the nb, though it doesn't look much like it. Some air goes over the mosfets too but not as much as I'd like.

I have a small heatsink from that vantec iceberg kit on the south bridge.

Mixing alumina with adhesive? Not sure if that's a good idea or not. I think if you neeed adhesive it's best to get alumina or ceramique adhesive. Though your idea may work. Seems like it should.

As for those mosfets, hmmmm. Interesting idea. I just wonder how sensitive they are to any pressure.

I'd like to paint my case silver sometime down the road, but I would rather concentrate on performance and everything before I paint.

I also have some major plans for buying one of the premade windows, getting a few cc's for inside, and 2 6" ones for inside my grill.

That will look awesome!

What I have is Arctic Alumina Adhesive. I read that mixing it with a bit of the non-adhesive would make it less "permanent". But, the board's running fine, so I think it would be fine to add it to the board. If I did need to RMA, I could probably just leave it on there and maybe get away with it...

The 120mm fan that came mounted on the back of my Antec case is VERY quiet. However I don't think a 120mm fan is practical for a heat sink.

Hey Pugs,

Don't sell me short.......it's an 80mm.

My 80mm Mechatronics is nice and quiet. It's a keeper. I like their fans. Temp sensors are a nice feature too.

You want to sell one of those 120's? I wouldn't mind stationing one on the bottom of my case at a 45 degree angle to help cool the southbridge and vid card. I think wvjohn has something going on to that effect. LMK if you do and I'll get some cash out to ya.

But that isn't a fair trade at all for you. That hub looks larger than my heatsink. :;

Are they quiet, I mean really quiet?

I've about given up the idea of using a 120mm fan.

i have a 120mm panaflow here that is whisper quiet, but the hub is huge. Havre tou seen my setup blade? The adapter makes up for the hub, but since mines a alpha,its set to suck not blow..Im currently using the uv 120mm you sent me, and its a hairdryer, but it moves the air

Dad, did that case used to be an Antec SX1000 version case? Cause I see the extra slab of metal for another hard drive cage there. Did you change the front brezel?
