I am thinking of ordering the following parts to build a new system. The only thing I'm not going to buy at this time is a graphics card. I'll wait until Doom 3 and Half Life 2 are released and see which card runs them best.
Case - Beantech B60B Igloo (Black Aluminum case)
Power Supply - Antec True430
Motherboard - Abit IS7-E (Springdale with onboard audio and LAN)
CPU - Intel P4 2.4C (800 MHz FSB) (This CPU will definately be overclocked)
RAM - 2 x 256 MB Corsair XMS PC3500 C2 DDR
Floppy - Mitsumi 1.44 MB
Hard Drive - Seagate 80 GB 7200 RPM SATA
CD-RW - Plextor 48x24x448 (PX-W4824TA/BPS-BL)
DVD - Lite-On XJ-HD166S/XJ-HD165H 16X DVD
Speakers - Logitech Z640 5.1
Graphics Card - existing Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti4400
Keyboard - Logitech Internet Keyboard
Mouse - existing Logitech MX700 cordless
Monitor - Viewsonic 17" VP171B LCD
Cables - Round floppy and ATA cables
OS - Windows XP Pro OEM (already have)
All items except the case will be ordered from New Egg. The case will be ordered from GamePC. Total cost of the system is approximately $1450.00.
Does anyone see any obvious problems with the system I've put together. (Other than the fact I am using an Intel CPU.) The only question mark I have is the Plextor burner. I can get a Lite-On burner for half the cost, but I am very satisfied with the Plextor burner I have in my present system.
Any help would be appreciated.

New System
In every review I've seen, lite on beats plextor. But how long will they both last. Plextor is proven lasting quality.
I've not used the newer intel setup but I've heard more power is needed, somethng like 400w minimum. And if you get one of the new power eating video cards, you might need more than 430. Maybe some who use intel can better answer that. But antec is good quality. I'd still get the largest you can get because at the very least, it'll last you longer for future upgrades as well.
If you do lots of photo of video work, you'll want more ram. With 1 gb the speed is noticably faster.
You might consider going to a 19 incher. You'll appreciate the larger viewing area. I think office max or depot has a samsung 19" now for 166.
I'd get the lite on and with that savings, upgrade one of the above.
Now about using intel.....
