Problems with 3DMark2001...

Post by FlyingPenguin »

On both my new system and my old one I get an error when I try to run it that DX 8.1 is not installed.

Both systems are XP and both have Dx9 installed.

WTF?

Q: I installed DirectX 9 and now 3DMark2001 SE tells me that I need DirectX 8.1, what gives?
A: We have noticed this behavior and the solution is quite easy. Uninstall your 3DMark2001 SE, download the latest version (Build 330) if you don`t have it already, reboot your machine and install 3DMark2001 SE again.

have you tried that?

Nope. Thx. I'm working of a copy that was downloaded quite awhile ago. Had no idea there was an update.

Hmmm... still didn't work for me. Not only that, it doesn't even have an uninstaller. POS!

No, that is what was weird... it wasn't in the root folder and didn't show up in add/remove apps. The actually .exe file to uninstall was in my start menu (which i never use). What a poor way to install a program...
