CDRW problems...............

Post by sethpa »

My burner is driving me nutso, using Nero and always worked fine before. When trying to burn a data disc, it tells me can't perform Fixation so doesn't even start burning. Have tryed uninstall/reinstall of the burner, tried MusicMatch burn program, same thing. Weird thing is , it passed a test burn once, but when real thing is started, same problem. It's a 24X speed burner, about a year old and hardly used. I don't remember the damn brand name though, uses JustLink technology. Any suggestions?

check the cables - one might be bad

try moving it to a different ide channel

pull the drive, reboot, reinstall, reboot

it had a 12x iomega do the same thing a while back - worked great for about 18 mos and now the tray won't stay closed - i'll probably just toss it

John's suggestions might help. I had one act up like that too and it would only work at 16x, but it's a 48x cdrw. Try it at a lower speed if the other ideas fail to work.

If still no go then it may be time for a new one. You can usually get 48-52x cdrw's now for 20 after rebate.

*Just checked, office max has a 52x cdrw for 9.99 after a $40 rebate (till the 31st) and best buy has a 52x for 14.99 after a$55 rebate .
