I thought Maxtor had fixed the problems but last night my new 80g 8meg drive bit the dust. Damn this drive only had about 8hrs of service on it. Nothing realy lost, but my time.

that's messed up. I would say the best drives out now are the seagate ones....but those are usually more expensive and harder to find.
I have a WD and Maxtor in my rig no prob though.
lucky me.

That Bytes..
I have 2 Maxtor 80GB and 1 Seagate 80GB and all three of them are great drives. The Seagate is about a year old, and the other two are less than that. One of them is a brand new drive, returned via RMA for a 60GB, and the other one I bought off a friend for $50 and it was less than a year old at the time. Sucks you've had such problems with them. But I've always had good luck with Maxtors. eGo
