would this cpu work with this Asus Motherboard Model# A7N8X Deluxe

when the specifications say something like this:
Processor:
- Socket A for AMD Athlon™ XP/Athlon™/Duron™
- 200/266/333 MHz FSB processors
- XP (Up to 2600+)

does that mean the board can handel a xp cpu up 2600 (so the cpu i have above wont work right?? because it a 2700)

thanx again all

New CPU's often come out after the first set of specs for a mainboard are published. So when a newer CPU arrives on the scene, you have to go to the mainboard manufacturer's website and see if the cpu is supported by the board.

It is a good question to ask, since sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes no, sometimes it depends on the revision of the board (version number).

I looked on the Asus website and it says the 2700 is supported after a BIOS upgrade. You may also want to check the Asus forum over at http://www.amdmb.com and see if this topic has been covered there.

I've bought about $1500 worth of hardware at different times, delivery each time was 3 days, unless the order was on a weekend I am in the northern part of California. decent shipping, Fedex could be faster though...

Great store, I order from them frequently. One thing that pisses me off about them is their shipping charges - unless its free, they rip you off big time.
Welcome to the machine.

For the most part Newegg rocks!!
They have fumbled the ball, on one of my orders and an rma.
But, in their favor they fixed them very quickly.....

I dunno...I've see much more advantage taken by other companies trying to recoup sale prices with shipping charges.

Years ago, I worked the warehouse of a mail-order company (this was just before the phrase "world wide web" was coined). Shipping charges that the customer paid covered my salary, the packing materials which kept the product safe and in brand-new condition when it arrived at the customer's door, the storage space it took up...and then of course, there was also the shipping charge from USPS/UPS/FedEx that had to be paid.

This is why it is usually called "Shipping and Handling" or "S/H" for short.

Now, NewEgg doesn't charge handling fees seperately from their shipping charges. They simply call it "shipping". And roaming around their site, it was very difficult to find FedEx shipping charges that were over six dollars...I had to go to the case section before I started seeing shipping charges of 12 or 15 dollars (for obvious reasons).

Sure, free is good. And only a handful of companies offer free shipping on certain items. But for most stuff being only 5 to 7 bucks for shipping something that takes three days to get to my door, that I consider pretty damn good in comparison to hundreds of other online retailers I've seen over the years that charge up the bungholio for shipping charges on a product that won't arrive for a week or more (like buy.com...just had a horrid experience with them this month).

IMO, Newegg is simply the best. Got almost everything you need (nice not having to go to multiple places when you need a few parts). Got the cheapest prices going, being they do so much volume selling. The exchange is great, you having problems with anything you bought or just don't like it, you can exchange it no questions asked. I've dealt with them a lot and never had a problem. Hell I got my 2800+ from them and to this day I have not seen anyone else carry it. I did have to buy a motherboard with it but I wanted one anyway (got the one in my spec below) so it came out very nice.

Newegg - Thumbs up!

I buy most of my stuff at Newegg too. Mostly the major hardware.
Never had any reall problems with them.
Good products, fast shipping, RMA'd a dead board once and was fast and freindly too.
Usually about the best prices I can find so far for a good reliable company with a large selection.
I also buy from directron, TCWO, and for smaller items like fans and lights bestbyte.net.

I always liked TCWO, and shipping is normally a flat rate for the whole order, like $7 up to 50lbs. Prices used to be the best, now newegg is a bit less if the shipping doesn't kill the deal! TCWO was great service and shipping too.

The small stuff normally costs too much shipping at newegg!

Watch that shipping!
I don't mind shippig and handling charges that are reasonable. For buying 1 item the charges aren't too bad on most things. It's when you buy 3 system boards and shipping is $10 each and adds up to $30 that it gets bad! Yea for one mouse by itself I would not complian about $5 shipping, but if it is with another $200 on the same order it's bad!

The phone person said the shopping cart updates and reflects more reasonable shipping charges after you put in about 3 or 4 items, when I called them. It never has for me though, so I delete out all the non-important stuff with high shipping and buy all the free shipping items.

I think my last order was for a $100 hard drive and a DVD burner (about $177) both with free shipping.
Then I wanted some disks for that DVD burner and shipping was like $5 each, I stuck 4 in the cart and shipping went from free to $20! Good grief, how much extra does it cost to toss in 4 disks? SO I bought those elswhere in spindles (free shipping) and a 100 jewel cases at Sams club for them.

$7 shipping for a set of 6.1 speakers wasn't too bad, but $6 each for DDR ram is pretty bad if you buy 3 and have to pay $18 shipping, and that's how the cart always shows it to me.

Most the stuff I buy has free shipping and arrives in Mo (half way cross country from them) in about 3 days. They have surpised me several times how fast stuff got here.
