current cpu:

idle 37-39C
load 44-46C
(varies due to my room temp/case temp)
old cpu:
1.4GHz Athlon
idle 44C
load 50-51C

Really fluctuates a lot with the weather. It doesn't take much of a change in weather to really impact the cpu temps.
Right now I'm running 38C/100 F at idle. This will go up anywhere from 110-115 F gaming depending how hot the room is. Motherboard temps running a cool 22C/71F.
This is running my 2800+ overclocked to 178 fsb which is 2.4 gig @ 1.75 volts.
I have the SLK 800 with ThermalTake Smartfan2 (adjustable) 80mm fan. The idle temp above right now is with the fan running at max 4800 rpm (which is loud). I normally run the fan at around 2700 rpm (silent) which will up the idle temps around 10 F, with games running around 123 F.
In winter time I can run games all day long and not even pass 100 F.

Humidity has a bit to do with how well it cools too I do beleave. Dryer air seems to cool better, at least it seams that way based on my experiences.
I use wood heat and sometimes with the right wood I can really bake the house and everyone in it
Been several times it was 20f outside and we had the windows open and fans on and were sweating off ours butts!! Good green oak strips and cubes from a local mill, burns like soaked in gas or oil as far as heat. Great wood, just don't load it up like split logs. And no, once it gets burning you can't adjust the dampers to controll the heat with this burner and type of wood.
Anyway, I have noticed on several ocasions, the system is runing cooler at 100f in the room with the dry cold air dried even more with the wood heat, than it does at 95f in the hot moist summer air from the woods outside. I don't use air conditioning here and the woods are just a few feet to the rear of the house and all around. It is hot and moist most of the summer, but nice otherwise. That hot wet air does not seem to cool anything very well here!
I would think then too, that if you have dryer air from an airconditioner in the summer with room temps around 70f a system would run cooler than at 70f with moist outside air just be circulated with a fan.
Same room temps, different humidity.
