Norton woes

Post by Tech1 »

Please don't tell me norton sucks, switch programs, ect :)

I am running XP Pro as admin (Like always) and trying to re-install Norton Corp Edition (Yes it is legal, was giving to me to use by my company under it's license)

I was running Norton corp edition and it has always worked fine for me before, but yesterday i saw it was disabled, i enabled it, then it turned itself off again, so i thought to myself virus, i uninstalled norton and went to trend's housecall site and it didn't find any viruses, so i rebooted and tried to install it again, but now i get this error:

Error 1920.Service Norton AntiVirus Server (Norton AntiVirus Server) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

Any ideas? I would really like to get this installed again, if not i guess it is off to look in the ads on sunday and buy a normal retail version of Norton..

Symantec has a rather extensive knowledgebase that I've found useful. Just entering the text of the error will usually give you an answer:
