i just pulled some stuff out of the closet and got another machine goin

dual fan psu
1 intake 120mm
1 outtake 120mm (almost over the cpu, its like a duct and curves...)
dr thermal extreme w/alumina on a 2100+.

bootup temp after sitting off for awhile is like 48. idle is around 50-52, and with FAH its usually upwards of 56
mobo temp is 32-34 constant.

could the little copper circle on the underside of the dr thermal not be fully on the core? or what are your opinions?? this is CRAZY.
I had it down to 46-48 with a 1800+. (w/generic thermal paste ATT)

You sure those temps are accurate? Most mobo's rarely show an accurate temp through mobo monitor.

But, I'd try redoing the compound on the cpu, and reinstalling the heatsink. Too much or too little compound has an adverse effect.

The center copper core isn't centered on the cpu, but it should be over it. If you remove it check the cpu footprint and you'll see.


Still though, those temps are in line with AMD specs. Though I prefer far cooler too.

Palominos usually get warm. If that's a tbred, though, then somethin's wrong.

Always better to be safe than sorry though, might as well double check.

ya, i took it off and redid the compound. no real temp change
the footprint on the heatsink was just slightly of center of the copper. I did try to 'slide' it somewhat to make it centered but didn't wanna break the tabs, so stopped, lol.

Really not sure wether its a palamino or tbred. I had just bought it earlier this week, and so figure it is a tbred. How do i find out what type it is? I didn't really see anything about the core type(palamino, tbred a, tbred b...) <a href=http://www.amdboard.com/amdid.html target=_new> Here </a>.

oh, and i've gotten the temps from both the bios and mbm. they are usually pretty close to each other. probably because this board does has the onboard temp that sticks up right below the cpu.
