MS Warranty has Changed
MS Warranty has Changed
OK I have used the MS Intelieye Explorer mouse since it first came out and really liked it. One thing I like was the warranty. I have had several of the cords go bad and a simple call to MS always got me a new one within a few days. So last night when my mouse started acting up again and I see the red light blinking on and off with the movement of the cord I think no biggie I'll just call them in morning and get a new one. So I make the call and man have things changed. Now you need proof of purchase, just having the #s off bottom of mouse is no longer enough. You need one of the following. A sales receipt, part of the original box, or a printed picture of the bottom of mouse that is enlarged enough for them to read. You then have to send by mail or fax this info to them before they will process your order. While this is not totally unreasonable and I can understand it ....it sure is a long ways from the way it used to be. So I have scanned bottom of my old mouse and enlarged it enough so they can read it and have the thing in the mail to them but in the mean time I picked up a Logitrech MX500. So far it seems pretty good not sure which I will use when I get the MS mouse back.

So far I am liking the MX a lot. It feels kinda small compared to the Explorer but I am sure I will get used to that. I agree it seems more responsive, so much so I had to slow it down a little. I like all the buttons too (3 more than the Explorer) You are probably right I'll more than likely stick with the MX
Grand1 I agree I am sure the previous warranty policy was abused and I really can't blame MS for changing it. It is just when I was expecting to just make an easy 5 min call and ended up having to take and enlarge pics of mouse and mail or fax things to them it was a disappointment, although understandable.

Yeah I saw your thread about that and was some what hesitant to buy the Logitech because of it. I figured that at the worst it would be to just use to hold me over until the MS replacement got here or has a spare in a pinch. I loaded the software that came on the disk and then updated it off the website. So far so good but as always time will tell.Originally posted by PreDatoR
