What's the BEST motherboard now?

Post by knightofnee1112 »

I bought an epox 8K9A3+ mobo off newegg, and am gonna sell it for the same price i payed ($120) to a friend so he don't have to bother with shipping. and now I figure, I should get the absolute best mobo around, I've got a few spare $$ at the moment so i can spend about $150 shipped on it if need be. I need the fallowing features (using K7):
  • automatic multiplyer unlocking
  • multiplyers up to about 30X
  • bus speed of 400MHz or more
  • good audio onboard. none of that ac97' crap.
  • NO integreated video if possible. I don't want something there I wont use.
  • 2X 15 pin serial connectors
  • 2.0 USB 4 or more ports, just in case.
  • UDMA 133 controller, highpoint raid chip is possible.
  • lots of room for expantion, 5X or more PCI and 8X AGP
  • good layout, and thick PCB
  • lots of room for a boat-like heatsink
  • CMOS clear jumper, seen a few mobo's without this nesessity feature.
no asus, I have had nothing but hell from their products.

LMK! thanks!

It is the best board i have ever owned. The multiplier only goes up to 22 or something, but if you are buying a DDR400 board there should be no need for a multiplier that high. Everything else is exactly how you wanted it. I've heard the onboard sound is the best there ever has been, though i have a decent sound card so i use that.
