cdrw problem

Post by rat fink »

this doesn't happen all the time but when it does I have to shut down the computer:

everyonce and a while while a cd of any sort is in this drive for a long period of time (a week or so). the cd drive decides to lock-up and when I want to take out that cd the driver door button won't work or the eject button on the computer screne. why is this? but as soon as I reboot the computer the cdrw becomes active again.
using a 366 mhz computer
have better vehicles:
67 impala
82 firebird

What brand of CD-RW is it? Usually you'll get those wierd things with the cheaper models (including artec, cyberdrive, etc). Like even my MSI sometimes wont even recognize that there is a CD-RW in there until I reboot.
