Sound card poll

Do you prefer an add on card or the onboard sound ? The 8RDA+ 6 channel sound with Logitech Z-640 5.1 speakers sounds real good.

I prefer a Quality addin sound card but I use onboard for ease and less mess at the time. as my dumb ass 200g wd drive requires an addon ide pci card for the time. ARG!

I use onboard as well. Why? My 6 channel onboard on this Gigabyte board sounds just as good (and sometimes even better) then my SB Live! I used to use. Not to mention I'm free of Creative and their messy driver situations!

Onboard sound, especially from nforce2 boards, is as good as most PCI cards. I still prefer the Audigy cards cause I'm a gamer and they're the only ones with EAX 3.0, which delivers currenty the best 3D sound experience. I had no probs with my Audigy regarding drivers and I know how to avoid installing the ton of crappy creative addon software :p

The onboard C-Media on my IWill XP333 sounds just as good as my old SBLive without the IRQ issues and flaky drivers.

I'll maybe use onboard on my next motherboard. But, for now, I'll be using my Acoustic Edge.

I'm with FP,

Iwill XP 333 sounds nice on stero........ Still working on the new drive install, but I have a set 0f Z640's waiting to connect also!

Kids Shuttle AK35 sounds great with the onboard 6 channel too, hers has the z640's connected already :)

Starting to think maybe sound cards are about obsolete, or soon will be. Add another one to the legacy pile :)

On board sound is no longer the crackly snappy junk it used to be!

well if thats the case, then I will stick my with audigy.

That is the ONLY pci card I currently have in my system. 4 wasted pci slots now......guess I gotta fill them in with more cooling on the vid card or something

I think you have to purchase the add on bracket from Epox for digital connections. $18 but on back order. It took me a little time to get the nForce sound to work correctly on this 8RDA+ but it's working now and sounds great. :)
