400a when?
just curious if anyone has herd anything else about the kt400a's
I got money now, and can finally get a new mobo
i am looking at getting a kt400.....but then greg was always speaking of the 400a
So.....how much differnt will the 400a be from the 400?
when will the 400a be availible? (guesses would be fine)
if no 400a is availble, can you recommend a new kt400 board that kicks ass?

Gone for good. But never say never
Hey AT, I'm using the Giga-byte GA-7VAXP Ultra and absolutely love it.
Serial ATA, ATA133 RAID, Firewire, USB2.0, the elite "Easy Tune" overclocking utility which let's me overclock from the desktop (Ok, so maybe you guys dont think it's cool, but this is my first foray away from Asus and Tyan, and as the song goes "I aint seen nuttin yet")
$130@Newegg and it comes with onboard 6 channel AC97 sound and NIC.

sethpa- i kinda wanted to stay away from the nforce boards.
judg3- that looks like a nice board. I havent really heard much about GB. The more common names I see is asus and epox.
I will have to read a little more about that board. I have thought about getting the soyo sy kt400 dragon ultra (still a toss up if I wanna spend an extra $30 for the little goodies that come with hte plat. ed. over the normal)
how is the dual bios to work with on that GB board? is it any different from a normal single bios?

Well, it's nothing REAL special really. Basically it's just 2 complete ROMs, if you mess one up by flashing it, the worst thatll happen is you will have to reboot again. The system knows you messed up, and automatically switches to the backup BIOS, which then becomes the main BIOS. Pretty neat imho.Originally posted by Absolut Talent

I don't know why people don't use GB boards for overclocking much, this thing is rock solid stable, and I can OC this 2100 up to 3005Ghz (According to the EasyTune), in fact, it even has a default overclock mode in BIOS when you set "Top Performance" to enabled, which gives it a slight boost.
I'm not an overclocker, but I'm thinking about, it's just so easy to do it from the desktop here. hehe

well....i dunno if the nforce2 boards can make up for the release of the GFFX. I have suffered emotional and psycological damage from it. I dont think I can forgive nvidiot by buying a board with there chipOriginally posted by PreDatoR
its nvidiot but its not graphics at least lol
but that dual bios still intrigues me
and from the reviews, that board doesnt seem that bad. Lots of extras and it looks cool. I especially like the northbridge heatsink/fan combo. biggiest ive seen

Oi, I didn't even know it had a repair option. But to be honest, I've never (knock on wood) toasted my BIOS, so it's a good plus, but something I don't absolutely NEED hehe.
And AT, just go out and get it :-p
I've got one machine with a GA-7VAXP Ultra and 2 with a GA-7VAX, and love em all. One on XP, one on Win2k, and one running Debian, all have over 3 weeks uptime and all stay around 40C with the stock AMD cooler and a full load.

I'm using the GB GA-8IRXP. I never thought I would be a fan of onboard peripherals, but I have learned to like it.
Specs:
Promise RAID/ATA 133
Creative 5.1 sound
Intel Lan
USB 2.0 (4 ports) and USB 1.1 (4 ports)
Other stuff that I'll never use such as:
Memory Stick, Security Digital and Smart Card header
