Hi guys,
I finally got a new mouse, a Microsoft Explorer 3 running on my Win98 system using USB connector. I have no other USB devices except for a USB Hub that the Explorer 3 is attached to.
If I install the Intellipoint 4.1 drivers, or even the 4.05 drivers, I have some issues on the desktop. For example, some links take 2 or 3 clicks on them until they finally open. When then don't, I get the circle symbol with a line through it. Does not do it all the time, but 3 or 4 times out of 10 tries seems weird to me. The same thing when opening folders - double-clicking might take 3 tries - really annoying.
I have uninstalled the Intellipoint drivers and just using the standard driver that comes with Win98. Running in this mode, I have absolute no problems with the mouse. I never get the not avaiable symbol and I don't have to double-click several times to open folders either.
Just wondering how many of you run with the Intellipoint drivers, and if you do, have you ever had a problem like this. I have adjusted all the settings in the Intellipoint drivers until I'm blue in the face with no change.

I used to have problems with Intellipoint in Win98 so I avoided them. They've worked well for me in Win2K & XP.
I could easily do without it - there's really few features that they give you that are important. However some games won't see the side buttons without it.
Also they added a nice feature in version 4 that allows you to customize the side buttons for each application. I find this a good work around for games that won't see the side buttons - I just define them as standard key pressed.
