Sound Card Reccomendation...

Post by DaMaN »

Ok, just loaded up UNREAL 2 and realized that onboard sound just won't do on my Abit SR7-8X.

Let's hear your reccommendations. Are the creative sounds cards still a pain in the arse to use or is there a good alternative out there that plays well with WinXP.

TIA,

David

I don't know how good this card is, but I've been using it for 2 years without a single problem on Win98. I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. I've heard too many problems with a Sound Blaster that I finally ditched mine and got this Santa Cruz.

Hercules GTXP or the newer Fortisimo 3 i think is a decent card. the TBSC is a damn good card also... I wish Creative would just burn in hell and go under already... :| :D

GTXP looks cool! Wish the box was internal though.

if you don't want to spend a bundle the cmedia cards are about $20 - better than a sblive to my ears - i got one in the pine flavor from newegg for ~20

I agree with John, the cmedia 5.1 cards sound darn good and have zero of the hassles of the live value cards. And cmedia sounds better.

I had 2 cmedia cards die on me but now I think that was due to a faulty power supply. But after that I got a fortissimo III 7.1 sound card. This one I also suggest. No problems at all and sounds very good and clear.
