DivX Ripping Problems...

I recently downloaded a bunch of DivX Rips, and they work fine. But... they are in one piece and i need them to be in two so i can burn them. I would like to burn them as VCDs. Does anyone know how to split them in to two section? Or know of any type of program that will do it? Thanks Mullen07

VirtualDub can split a large file into 2 parts. But I believe you'll need to encode the divx into vcd.

For virtual dub, have the audio and video set on "direct stream copy" then use the markers to set where each file starts and ends, then save as an avi.

If you're going to make VCDs from them, you're better off using TMPGEnc instead.

I use Virtual Dub just to do my AVI captures now. TMPGEnc is easier to use for cutting down videos. It directly makes a VCD compliant MPEG1 files WITHOUT making an AVI (and DVD complaint MPEG2 files too) and has a handy batch editor.

You can instruct TMPGEnc to cut up a video into 2 (or more) pieces (sometimes you want to cut it up even if it fits on one CD just to make each one a seperate chapter). You setup the edit points and then let it rip and it makes all the seperate videos in one operation, saving them as MPEG files that are ready to be burned to a VCD without re-encoding.

With VirtualDub you have to do each cut seperately and then you have lots of large AVI files when you're done, and your burner software still has to convert them to MPEG1.

Agreed with FP. To burn to VCD it has to be in MPEG1 format and TMPGEnc is the best by far. For any help you need goto http://www.vcdhelp.com and your answer will be revealed. They have guides and the like there. http://www.doom9.org is a good site also.
