Pc2100/pc2700/pc3100
What does it mean!! lol.. I know it's different speeds of ram for the DDR boards. And I'm wondering what I would want to use on my next PC. I've got a spare K7S5A laying around and I'm gonna order an XP1800+ for it. The TBred w/266 FSB. So which DDR should I get? I'm running PC133 in the current rig. Is it worth the price diff? I'd appreciate some info. TIA eGo

Ok.. But...
Will I notice any significant differences in speed? Or would I be best off just sticking with 133 since it's cheaper? TIA eGo

Mainly it'll help if you intend to overclock. Otherwise I doubt you'd see any noticable speed difference. In benchmarks it will help, but not enough for our eye to see.
But if the price diff isn't much you would be better off getting the fastest you can, for any future upgades. So in the long run it could save you moola.

Gotcha..
So, in theory, the PC2100 is able to run on a mobo w/a processor that is being overclocked up to a 266 FSB? Therefor my PC133, which doesn't appear to be stable past 137 FSB, is the reason that my current Overclockability is limited? So if I went with PC2100 I wouldn't have near the problems getting past the 138 FSB on the K7S5A? Are my thoughts right here? eGo

well i have noticed that in games, playing singleplayer, levels seem to load faster with the 2100 over 133.
Some programs seem to load faster too.
with your system being a 266fsb....i say go with the 2100 for best results. Its a little bit more expensive then the pc133, but i think its worth it
but with that board, correct me if im wrong, but it takes both pc100, pc133, pc1600, and pc2100. So spending extra on the 2700 or 3100 wont make much of a difference if you can go with 2100

your theory is correct
i know with my xp1800 and pc2100, i can get my fsb over 145. But then I start locking up cause of my mobo and my low powersupply. I guess I need more than a 300watt to run all the crap i got in it
not sure how good of a overclocker that ECS board is. I had one before, but didnt have a chance to OC it before I gave it to a friend

Doh! I forgot about that mobo accepting either pc133 or ddr. DDR is much faster and you will see a diff with that over pc133. My comparison was for ddr only. Though some pc133 will oc well too, depends on the ram
With decent pc2100 ddr you should get to at least 140-145 fsb. But again it depends on the ram.
