Hi I'am new and want to buy a good burner. i am told that i want to be able to burn in the raw format and i like one that not that costly. and what is the best software what does it mean to burn in the raw format what are the benefits. and what is the best burning software.

cant go wrong with a liteon - check the hot deals sites and get one of those rebadged one from omax or staples - end up costing you about $30-40 - they will burn anything with proper software and very reliable

for burning I use Nero (which comes with most liteons) - for raw burning you may need clone-cd or one of it's cousins - i'm sure someone else will point yyou in the right direction

I've had several plextors and hp's before that, all good but now have had 3 different liteon's and think they're great plus inexpensive.

I've also used Nero for the last two years and use cloneCD to copy cds.

Another vote for Lite-on. I've literally bought dozens for clients and have 2 myself. I love 'em. Usually $50 - $65 SHIPPED at NewEgg.

i have a liteon a aopen and a hp, liteon and aopen both work awesome for what i paid for them (rebages) Cendyne's , but the hp that cost 3 times as much burns coasters, go figure- the burn proof and just link on the aopen and liteon are awesome features

I bought a 48x24x48x liteon recently and its great. I use alcohol 120% or clone cd and it will copy everything Ive put in it so far. :D

was reading this, and became kinda curious, what exactly IS raw format? is that referring to cd-copying??
