WTF? Getting error "TV out being enabled" in PowerDVD when running Vin Diesel's XXX

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Never seen this before. Getting this error only when running the movie Triple X: "This copy protected disc can not be played when the TV out function is enabled."

Using PowerDVD XP

PowerDVD's FAQ says to upgrade my drivers but I'm already using the latest Dets (41.09). Anyone have a clue? I eamiled PowerDVD but who knows when I'll hear from them.

Checked google newsgroups and it seems like Macrovision implemented this to prevent piracy. You can't watch the movie on a card with TV-out - even if TV out is disabled.

UTTER BS! :mad

I did find a reference that the latest version of TVTool (which I use) overcomes this.

I'm off to download it....

are they that stupid? lol most don't send out the tv-out anyways for piracy and 99% of the video cards out there work with macrovision so that it screws the screen up if its hooked to something other than a TV...

Well TVTool already has a switch to disable Macrovision, but it's not helping. Looks like they're using something new in the Triple-X DVD.

Apparently I'm not alone - TVTool forums are full of people saying they have the same problem.

What a crock. I have a legitamate copy of the DVD, I just want to watch the stupid thing and I can't. Idiots.

Hehe, there is a way around this with your music CD. Get a copy of Exact Audio Copy. The program is FREE to use. Simply start up Exact Audio Copy and then insert your music cd in your pc. It will then show you all the music tunes. Simply save them as a wav or mp3 and burn them to a CD.

I did this for a friend at work because his new CD (don't remember the band name) would not play in his car stereo or pc. Some copy protection, but it's more of an inconvience than anything else.

All I have is 4.0 XP, and my copy of WinDVD won't run under XP.

No big deal, I don't watch DVDs much on my computer - I have two TVs with DVDs, but it pisses me off.

Well that explains why I get that error on my new Braveheart DVD and PowerDVD. I figure this protection is going to become pretty standard, so uhh, this basically means that my PC DVD player is pretty much useless now? Great... :mad

Oh, windows media player 9 (which is nice btw) plays DVD's, but I get a similar error with that too...
