Setting up a Network in a computer?
I have onboard Ethernet and a Ethernet card in my computer... I wanted to know if there was a way to make the cable modem connection run through my ethernet card into my Onboard and out to anohter computer. Sorta like making a hub but with out the hub
I don't even know if this is posssible but any help would be appreciated. Thx
depends on the OS. i know that win2k and XP have whats called ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). I believe 98SE, not 98 also has it, but not sure on that.
If both are setup with drivers and all, right click on Network Neighborhood, and click properties. heres a decent <a href=http://www.homenethelp.com/ics/ics-inst ... nt2000.asp target=_blank> Site </a>

From 98SE on up ICS is included. It does exactly what you're wanting to do (I'm doing it now). I'm only running two PC's. My main rig, the 1.4 has the cable going into onboard and then back out through the second NIC to my second machine via a crossover cable (which you will need if you plan on doing this). Google should have any information you need to know (http://www.google.com) Just type in "Internet Connection Sharing" and you'll get a bunch of hits.
Good luck

True, but if you plan on getting on the internet on the other machine (why wouldn't you?) then you'll want to set up ICS anyway. Only minus the x-over cable, since it's just going to a hub.
