How to make a HDD removable in WinXP?

Post by Buzz »

I'm usinga disk as a Backup disk... it's in a IDE caddy. I turn it of after each backup job. Prob is, i need to restart everytime.

Is it any way to make it removable in WinXP, like u can in Win98?

Did a quick search on Google Groups and found some info.

http://www.softhelp.cc/mc/Homex.html is a 3rd party app that allows it.

Also found this tidbit of info:

"For the drive in question, right-click/properties/hardware tab/highlight
drive/properties button/policy tab/'optimize for quick removal'"
