CD Burning Questions

Post by TheBattousai »

Just wondering, does burning at a faster speed affect the copy in any way? I have heard that if you try to burn a music CD at too high a speed, it won't work well in a normal CD player. Also, would that apply to data CDs too? Thanks!

I have heard that before and to tell ya the truth i burn all of mine at max speed and all the audio cd's play fine in everything... my 24x burner was dying on me and i was having problems with a few cd's i had burned with it... but the burner was going out so i really don't think it was cause of the burning speed though... since then i've got a 48x burner and have had no problems with burning full audio cd's with it...

On some of the older car CD units they wouldn't work rite if burned at a high speed. I had one that wouldn't work at anything burned over 8x.

That's what I heard d_b. Do you know how old of units that is, since the main thing I basically do is burn CDs for my car?

Just burn a copy and test it out... most decks 3-4 years old play burned cd's of any speed just fine... deck in my car is 5 years old and a cheap blaupunkt and it plays everything i've thrown at it.

Nero as will a few other types of software will verify the writes. It takes a little longer but if you have the option and your not in any hurry try it,I use write verify for ISO's and it works reguardless of the speed.
