it actually has more to do with p4 northies croaking at the volts their owners are throwing at them.

too bad most p4 owners won't admit that. p4 owners also swear that there will be SADS sudden athlon death syndrome, as retaliation, however, amd owners don't tend to be stupid enough to fry the same processor. we also admit to throwing too much voltage at it. imho anything over 1.95 is tooooooooooooooo much. tho on my dually, i'm undervolting now that i found my sweet spot. it's nice to run pretty high, low volts and cool.

looked like a lot of those were cpu's that used the wire pin trick too - too much juice - not enough cooling - we know the rest

oc'ing is great , but you're gonna lose some chips

I've always been one to run the piss out of my chips and i have yet to blow a AMD chip up... other than one i got the heatsink all screwed up and it nuked cause it didn't have contact to the core... I'm at 1.83 Gig 1.95v's now... chip will do 1.9 @ 2.05v's and 140f loaded... which is no where near overheating for them.

i'm running on a 8k3a+ which reads the internal thermistor on the xp's... so its generally 15-20f higher than a socket reading... that and i have a heavy overclock going on and this is with a SLK800 and 75CFM fan... and this is the best air cooling money can buy as well... i drop down to 1.75 gig 1.85v's 120F at default 1.4 gig i'm running abuot 5 degree's above room temp...

another stupid thing those overclocking owners do they always boast how they overclock on a stock cooler I'm like WTF?????????????????????? you moron go get a f*cking TT or coolermaster hsf just something decent but not stock!!!!! on my 1.7ghz celeron I have more then plenty cooling I forgot the model but its the cooler master with 38cfm up to 2.8ghz my temps are sooo nice and for my athlon xp 1700+ I have a volcano 5 which is just enough (plan to get a 9 later) but for gods sake if you overclock your 1.6A 400mhz to 2.1ghz 533mhz fsb on stock voltage be happy with that and for sure dont use stock with that I say Sudden Northwood death syndrome is caused by moron owners who think stock is enough

Hopefully that won't happen here. My 1.6A has been running rock steady at 2.24 GHz (140 FSB) for almost a year. Voltage is at 1.525 and using the STOCK heatsink and fan the CPU temp stays in the 90 - 95 F range.
