Beeps, no boot shuttle AK35GT2
Beeps, no boot shuttle AK35GT2
That's about it. Just built a new system tonight, Used my Extra Shuttle AK35GT2 mother board.
Only installed 1700XP cpu/sink/fan, 256 DDR ram, and ATI PCI Radeon 7500 video card. When I boot it takes awhile then I get a long beep long pause long beep cycle that continues till I shut down. I get no screen at all.
I tried resetting the ram and video card. Pulled the ram from this IWill system and installed the new ram. No difference to either system. I pulled the AGP ATI AWI 7500 video card from this IWILL system and installed it in the SHuttle, still beeps. Since it did not fix the Shuttle I did not try the PCI video here since it would most likely screw up windows.
Case, power supply and CPU are new.
I had the same problem when I first bought this shuttle board. I had the IWILL also at the time and used it instead and put the Shuttle back in the box. So it sort of had the same problem with a known good cpu and power supply then, the ones I am using on this Iwll now. At that time I thought I had figured out a mistake I made with the Shuttle durring the insall of the IWill so I wasn't to concerned.
I'd really hate to rip apart the Iwill system to swap the cpu or P/S for testing. ANY other Ideas what I can do here?
The P/S is a 420watt Turbolink ?? It came in the new case, looks nice has two fans, but any good ?? Who knows??

normally if its beeping the cpu is fine. Its either a video problem or ram problem. I'm willing ot bet its the video. What kind of a vid card are you using. I had a problem wit ha ECS K7S5A board. It only supports 4x AGP and i couldn't get a 2x agp card to work. it would give me one long beep followed by 3 short beeps meaning there was a video problem. I ordered a cheap 60 dollar radeon 9000 slapped in and it booted right up. I would definately reset the cmos though take the battery out and leave the jumper set for 30 min or so... or if your cocky short out the contacts onthe mobo wherethe battery goes to drain all of the juice out of it. Do this at your own risk though i take no responsibility for a blown up board or your fried hair

hey Pred,
Whered you get a $60 Radeon 9000? Is that better than the Pci radeon 7500 I just bought for about $70?
Anyway I used the PCI Radeon 7500 64mb DDR ram video card first. Reseated several times and I think I tried different slot too. Then I pulled the AIW 7500 AGP Radeon from this system and tried it in the Shuttle too. No difference, same beep pattern.
I used the new 256mb ddr ram in the Shuttle first, reseated afew times and in different slots also, it is supposed to be PC 2700 I think 333mhz , then I took the 2100 ddr ram from this system and installed in the Shuttle. New ram works fine in the IWILL xp 333, but the shuttle still has the same beep pattern.
I cleared cmos, but just for a couple seconds with the jumper and battery was still in. Normally I just unplugg and set the jumper, I'll try pulling the battery and set the jumper all night when I go to bed.
What all should be installed to get a post and into bios setup? All I installed was cpu/sink/fan, video card, ram. Have power switch wire plugged in and M/B to power supplie of course. I had a keyboard (this one) and a really crappy bad old monitor connected. I don't figured the monitor should matter at all since I just want to get to bios. It's a color problem anyway and should work with the card, not that old!!!
No drives, mouse, or anything else is installed.
I don't think it matters where the fan is connected acording to the manual, but it was on the fan 1 connector. Can't find my other extra parts tonight, was gonna try another 3pin fan just in case It had to be connected and maybe this one wasn't being detected for some reason. Have to ask the wife in the morning where she tossed my extra parts I've been buying.
Geuss if reset the cmos tonight don't work then I'll find the old generic AGP card I have and stick it in and see what happens, it's from the K6 I used to have and probably a 1X card, 2x at the most!
Just a little bummed out about it since I was teaching my 11 year old how to build a system then couldn't get it working myself! Oh well it happens.
ANd Brianna says high to everyone she met up at the lan party too!

Newegg has the Sapphire Radeon 9000's OEM pretty cheap. Thier 64 meg cards... performance is higher than a 7500. Mine scored 7400 tweaked out. I think i paid 63 shipped for this one at newegg. bought it for my server but havebeen using it in my computer to try it out. It does good few gamesat 1280x960 laga little but not too bad.

Its the 66 dollar one now. Not a bad buy for a decent low end video card. comes with a pretty long svideo cable as well.

I have the same board with a 2100+ and an 8500. try the cmos reset, etc. - also shuttle boards tend to default to a 1T ram timing - if you can get to the bios make sure you change that to 2T - i don't remember whether the 7500 is a 2x agp or not - at any kind of overclock the 1T won't work
mine is pretty stable, although the fsb doen't want to go above about 145.

haha, mine likes 145 also as a max. I figgured it was cause I had 3 ram slots filled. 7500 is 2x/4x agp. 9000 proforms just a little less then an 8500.

Well I tried the clear cmos, took out the battery this morning about 3 am set the jumper and about Noon today put in the battery and set the jumper back to normal.
Beeeeep Beeeeeeeeeeeep Beeeeeeeeeep
darn darn darn
I geuss I shall try more stuff.
I tried both a PCI and AGP video card, I know the AGP one is good cause it is used in this system. Same thing with the ram. I also I used a differnt 3 pin fan on the connecter just in case it was one of those boards that check for a cpu fan.
P/s and reseating the CPU are the only 2 thngs I can think of right now.
I supposed since I wanted to put this Iwill Xp 333 in that case any way I'll rip everything apart and do it now instead of waiting till latter. I realy did not want to do that though.
Oh well, just a nice bright Saturday, might as well spend it inside the computers!
If I get all these systems and monitors running I won't need that fire wood anyway

Ok, how good is newegg about an RMA? Bought the board about june, took it out of the box no work, took it out of the box a few days ago still no work. T hought the first time might have been my error, but I geuss not. Should have sent it back then.
I pulled the whole IWILL XP333 system and put in the new case, works great!
Shuttle in other case beeping still.
CPU was reseated a few times now, All other parts are known to be good including the P/s. Cpu only thing not tested in a different system yet, a retail boxed 1700XP.
Grrrrrrr,
Oh yea, MSI? Is a micro star any good for a system board? Not in any way related to Micro soft is it??

Yea it was new.
Now the question is, they show it to be out of stock if you go look to buy one. Hmm, will I get a reburb if they have one or maybe choice of another brand?
If I trade out for a different type, what's the hot one now? They don't show to have the Iwill XP333 anymore. I think they have some type Iwill 400's.
Are the 400's still buggy or do most the boards out now have all the bugs out?
I'm over clocking mine but wife and Brianna's will be running stock. I am happy with my Iwill so far, so should I opt for a good over clocking board for me and pass this one down, or keep this and buy a decent board to run stock.
Grrrr choices choices

Well i hate to say it but newegg's rma's for motherboards suck if they no longer carry that board. I had a Epox 8k7a i had to rma... was 11 month old still had 1 month warranty... sent it in they tested and refunded 70 bucks i orignally paid 120 for the board. Called them asked them WTF i lost 50 bucks they said they only refund the current going rate for the board. I said fine then i want to have it replaced with a different board. They said that they can only replace with the same exact model or a refund that is the current price. Good luck anyways hope they still have that board in stock.

I may be in luck.
Looks like the price went up a dollar or two, and it is not in stock. Although they do have the Raid version of the same board in stock.
Either way is fine with me, replace with a working one or refund full price. Would swap for the raid or an Iwill and pay the extra couple bucks.
At least it still shows on their website as costing $78! Thats a plus in my direction.
