MotherBoard Failure

Hey All, :( :( :(

my mobo will START UP than beep and turn off in 3 seconds.

yesterday i posted that my cpu fan failed from the mobos power (cpufan)supply
and i connected it to the power supply box, but the fan didn't seem to spin at its normal speed (too slow) so i added another fan to make up for it, i did all this when to comp. when it was shut down right after the fan failed...
i think it won't start up because the mobo doesn't detect a cpu fan is plugged in (a safety feature???) anyways...
(also i wonder if not enough power is reaching something now that theres 2 fans hooked up to it, theres not enough power for the MOBO?,
although once i took out both fans the mobo still won't work out)
all input is and ideas are welcomed !!!!!

check the doumenation for the mobo and see if it requires a fan on the cpu fan header - if it does try the smallest fan you've got laying around - if you've burned out the header, i'm not sure of the work around -

i think you may have the fan off protection setting enabled in your BIOS.. it happened to me :)

If you can't draw power from the fan header on the board, you can still power the fan up by removing the black and red leads from the fan socket and sticking them into one of the molex connectors from your power supply (match red to yellow, black to black). Leave the third wire - the tach output - in the orignal fan connector and plug it into the fan head of the board. If the tach section of the fan header still works, your mainboard will get the tach signal from the fan...

Most BIOS'es allow you to disable fan "protection" shutdown...

you would probly need to attach the fan ground (black) to the mb header too as it cant read a signal with just one wire.

Actually, unless you hook up the fan to the power supply from another system, the ground on the molex connector from the PS will do just fine. There is no need to hook up the fan ground to the motherboard...

Umm shadow... it don't matter where the fan is grounded at its still gonna get the tach signal. All of my fans that are a 3 pin molex i remove the tach lead and put it into another 3 pin molex then take the 2 power leads and use a 3 pin to 4 pin adapater and it has always read the tach lead.

You don't need the black wire - the board gets common ground from the PSU as long as the fan is connected to the PSU. I have some Antec Smart Fans that connect to the HDD 4 pin connector, and then have a single wire for the signal cable that you can optionally connect to the mobo fan header.

Hey Peeps,

but non of this has gotton my mobo running yet
and i only got 3 seconds once i start up thge mobo so i can't change my bios, would there be a jumper or any way to connect something to bypass it???

(ps. i already planned to hook it up to the molex cpnnectors)
really like the single tach hookup idea, !!
if it works i will post it up in about hours (at school so..)
and if not.. i gotta wait till moday!

What kind of board is it? Can you bypass the settings in the BIOS by holding down a key during boot? Have you done the normal kind of things like double checking that all cards, memory etc. are properly seated? Is your floppy drive OK, is the power lead to the floppy hooked up?
