Been out for a while, need a new motherboard

Post by Frost »

Hey guys, nice to see you all again, I've been out of the computer scene for awhile, but now I'm upgrading, and I need your oppinions. I'm going to upgrade to 512 megs of either pc3200 or pc3500, along with a GF Ti4400, and probably an xp 2400 :) I don't see any use in upgrading from the xp 1600 I have unless, its going to be worth it, and a revised core, with a posible 500mhz o/c sounds good worth it to me. Well the only thing I haven't really decided on is what motherboard to get, if I even need one. Right now I have the Epox 8k7a, and it works fine, Do you guys think that this old board is going to pump enough power to a 2400, 512 megs, and a ti 4400? If not what do you reccomend I upgrade to? Kt333 based? kt400, is it even worth going to the kt400? I don't know, thoughts and suggestions welcomed, thanx

Wait for Intel's Granite Bay line of boards if you want to go intel. If you want AMD, the Asus A7V333 and Abit KX7-333 are great boards for not too much dough.
Welcome to the machine.

Look who comes crawlin' back.... ;)

I would personally upgrade the motherboard since it can only use PC2100 RAM. IF you get a new board you'll be able to use new ram to its full potential. I too have the 8K7A(+)
