How much does your paycheck get raped ?

Post by NascarFool »

Payday is on Tuesdays where I work. Tonight I figured up my "after taxes" hourly wage. I keep $15.37 an hour. Social Security, State Taxes and Uncle Same split $2.63 an hour. State taxes in Kansas must have be higher than Colorado taxes.

Self employed. You don't want to know how bad I get raped - self employment tax is a bitch. Plus I have to pay Uncle same estimated taxes quarterly. However, I do get to right off just about everything that's business related and that helps a LOT.

No state taxes in Florida - we've got that going for us.

I'm at the 35% rate as well. It's also intresting that you have to work from January to May in order to pay all your taxes for the year. I forgot what it use to be in the 1950's, but I think it was only one month of work would play all your taxes for the year. As long as Democrats are in control of the purse strings, there is only one way it's going to go: HIGHER.

I get nicked for about 35% too. Paying D.C. taxes used to really get my goat, particularly when our mayor was a crackhead....

Bullsh*t. Hmm. Are we talking about how taxes were decreased or kept at the same levels under Reagan? the first President Bush? Nixon? In recent administrations, which one actually had tax cuts?

It's not the President. It's Congress, as they control the purse strings, and Congress has been Democratic since the 60's, the same time taxes began increasing with the Great Society spending from President Johnson onward. Jimmy Carter made it worst by creating several new departments like the department of energy.

I dunno what it is but I know I get raped. I'm single and get no breaks so I guess that pretty much says it all. I know that every year Turbo Tax shows what I was taxed vs the national average and my ass definitly hurts. The government could at least give me a little lube :(
