I'm the opposite rogue, I love Resident Evil but absolutely hated Event Horizon. 
Weird how some of us feel totally opposite on certain movies.
Not sure if this movie will be any good, no matter who the director. Just not sure how it will carry over to the big screen. I love Alien and Aliens and just the first Predator movie. Should be interesting at the very least. I hope.
