Please Recommend a Cd-rw

Post by Magexx9 »

Since my cd-rw was stolen around a year ago I have yet to replace. I would like to get a fast drive, something resonably priced, and performance/reliability is a must. Mostly Ill be burning music to play in my car. Thanks so much for your help. You guys are great.

do you think the Plextor ide 40x12x48 for 105.00 is a decent deal? And as for realiability and all that you can't beat plextor?

thanks,

Another vote for Lite-on - I have purchased four 32x12x40x units from NewEgg.com - all of them outstanding performers, and the retail box comes with Nero.

You buy the name with Plextor. The 40x10x48 Lite On is just as a good of burner and a lot less cost. I've got the 24x10x40 and its been flawless for the last 6 months. I've probably go well over 200 burns on it also..

well I would have to say the ONLY yamaha worth anythign is that new one of theres the 44x. the 16-24x's were awful.

Plextor quality can't be beat. I have a 40x12x48x and I like it. Prviously I had Yamaha drives. The Plextor is so much better than Yamaha.

Ya the earlier Yamaha's were a POS I had a 16x10x40 i got from Greg had to RMA it after about a month... Thing wouldn't read a cd for shit and burned 1 coaster out of 2 cd's... sent it to yamaha and they changed the damper and something else in it and it was fine after that but i still sold it and got a different one. Plextors are good drives but they are pricey cause of the name. Lite On IMHO has just as good quality at a cheaper price.

I have a SCSI Plextor setup, but it's old compared to today's standards for speed. The Plextor burner is a 12x4x32. I have burned over 1000 CD's without a single problem, and I hate to replace it because of the performance of SCSI for these types of devices. To bad Plextor discontinued making SCSI burners.

most SCSI burners were just IDE masked... There were some SCSI burners coming with an adapter to run them on IDE... whats that tell ya... with the speed of computers now and the technology my 24x has never seen a buffer under run as it is...

I have to agree with the lite on crowd. I have 2. A 24x and a 40x. both are great.
