Possible new thermal paste!

Post by FanTum »

At trade school we were learning how to silver solder copper lines for medical gas installation. Our teacher put this compound on the middle of a piece of copper had us hold one end of the copper pipe while he heated the other end to 1800 degrees Far., or cherry red! The pipe was only 10 inches long and you could barely feel any heat in your hand!!!!

Sweet stuff, I wonder if it would make a good thermal compound for overclocking!!

Umm... just the opposite. Sounds like it's a terrible heat conductor and a good insulator.

I have something similar at work. It's a gel that you put on the copper line to prevent the heat from traveling up the pipe. I don't use it because it always dries up and falls off. :D
