"Delayed Write Failed" Error msg

Post by succubiss »

Has anyone seen this before?
are my hdds going bad?
i've got about 1.5GB left on my D drive partition.

Here's the error msg text.

"Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Documents and Settings\samc\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\KY0AYN6U\image[2].gif. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."

This happens only when i'm surfing the web. I'm assuming something is wrong with cacheing. Its popping up about 5-10 times/page.

I cleaned out my cache and temp folder. but still its popping up. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Ominous. I'd perform a Scandisk, then download the drive manufacture's diagnostic utility from their web site. If it's going, the diagnostic should tell you so.

welp, i did a scandisk on both my C: (win98) and D: (win2k) drives today.
It found a couple errors, mainly mis-named files.

I let it auto-correct, and I haven't seen that error again so far. Hopefully it won't pop up again.

Lucky, lucky you! I have a SCSI Atlas II 10K drive that is being RMAed because of that specific error. Of course it just upchucked and would not boot at U160speeds. The only way I could get the drive spun up was to slap a non-ultra cable on it and it spins up at 20. :( Oh well at least it's under warantee! :)

one small detail.

i'm running 2 30.7GB wd's on a promise fasttrak raid0 array.
fast, quiet, and cool.

its pretty old, i think i paid $130/ea for the hard drives way way back. strongly doubt mine are under warranty. sheesh, they are oem drives, bet they don't even show up on WD's warranty web page
