Problems with ATI 3D Rage Pro II+ PCI

Post by kzaman »

I just bought this off someone to use one my wife's p.c who wanted t.v out for movies.

Anyway, i don't know much about ATI cards since in the past, i've always used 3dfx cards. The guy told me that it had 16 mb ram, i'm using windows XP so it installed it's own 4mb version of the driver which makes the p.c real slow. I've been to ATI's website and they recommend using the windows version of the driver and it states that the t.v tuner will not work in xp.

I was wondering if anyone knows where i could find 3rd party drivers for this card, secondly, does anyone know if it is a 16mb card or is it only 4mb? I've already tried the ati utility software and that reads it as 8mb, i'm real confused, would appreciate your comments and help.

Thanks,
kzaman

Rage Pro should be at least 8Mb, probably 16Mb.

Hmm... well, i'm almost certain now that it is an 8mb card. I have tried looking everywhere i could think of but with now luck, i've tried using the all in wonder 128 drivers to see if THEY might work. No luck so far. If anyone has ANY clue at all where i could find XP drivers for this card, please let me know. I'm kinda stuck with this thing for a while.

Thanks,

Thanks nexus_7, i tried 'em out, but they're not meant for that card. It's an original ATI though, not a 3rd party card with ati chipset....

still looking, comments appreciated, thanks guys,

here's a little sugjestion... you'll dealing with an old card that isn't good. just get a new out dated one. Here's a VisionTek 64MB Geforce 2 with tv out. it costs $47, probably $55 shipped.

I'm sure you could even get one cheaper, but with this you can do anything you will need (all current software), it's a good brand, and it's cheap. you might even try ebay, but i recommend buying new bulk/oem products.
